I started researching this post with further efforts to unearth more archaeological data about Mehrgarh, but I ran into an excellent presentation which is germane to the subject of South Asian archaeology.
In view of modern genetic science, racial and homeland differences, once a major speculative topic for bigots, have becoming scientifically unsupportable indicators of intellectual, behavioral and social virtue. DNA differences among regionally identifiable or traceable human “races” provide no support.
The noun “racism” has morphed into a politically charged but meaningless label i.e. when a word can have limitless interpretations, is no longer unique, and yet still receives a prominent place as a media topic, it has become obsolete, and is properly recognized as an epithet.
The only application of the term “racist” that is widely politically correct at this moment is “white Caucasian male.”
I’m old enough to remember Stalinism and the Cold War, during which the Russians claimed every technological innovation as “Out of Russia.” I also remember World War II as a child, when Nazi Germany claimed to be the world’s Master Race and Japan asserted its martial and racial superiority over all East Asia. The butcher’s bill of WWII was at least 60 million people.
But, as I searched the web for more on Mehrgarh, I encountered a 1.5 hour high-quality video titled “Indian Civilization: The Untold Story—A Talk by Raj Vedam.” This is a well produced HD video, well-worth you time.
And you will learn something, as I did, about ancient India, Archaeoastronomy, and modern Indian Nationalism.
