Hi,
Although I am absorbed in applying finishing touches prior to publishing my latest novel, I continue to monitor my archaeological news feeds for items that might interest you. I was particularly struck that we have found a second Mesoamerican city that was built on a grid plan, and even more so by the speculations of the archaeologists as to why: a creation myth.
Cities built with a Grid Plan date back to Mohenjo-Daro (video) and Harappa in the Indus Valley Civilization (3300 BCE to 1300 BCE).
So far, we have only found two native Mesoamerican cities that used a grid concept for roads: Teotihuacan (500 AD to 100 BC) and the Mayan city Nixtun-Ch’ich in the Middle Pre-Classic period (400 to 800 BC).
Stay safe,
